A study around the wellbeing of students in relation to online learning

Looking back on this research piece I am happy with the topic that I selected. I feel as if students’ wellbeing and online learning is more prevalent than ever and my conclusions agree that it is an area requiring us to be more proactive. The results I obtained from my survey and questionnaire were as I suspected due to the research prior to the survey results. As a student myself I had noticed an increase in headaches and was curious as to if this was due to hunching over, screen time or a combination of both.

After discovering that majority of students were also experiencing a range of increased negative effects since and learning some of the ways to combat these. I will personally be more attentive with how much time I spend recreationally on the computer whilst committed to my full-time study and part-time work.

Something that I would try and achieve next time doing this piece would be to try and gather a larger sample of students to take the survey. Although I met assessment requirements, I believe improving this element would improve on the overall authenticity of the opinion piece and therefore my voice as a legitimate source for others to consume. The various external sources assisted in covering the links that I drew from the data.

From an ethical standpoint, I believe between getting consent from participants, and the element of anonymity was achieved.

It is important to recognise those who did indeed enjoy, and adjust to online learning. It would be a smart move to look into why, and what about their lifestyle adapted so well to online learning. If we are able recognise these factors then it would allow people to replicate them in their own routines and has the potential to improve their wellbeing.

With this insight confirmed by both research and data it provides the reason for further academic research into mechanisms to promote the wellbeing of students. Productivity is essentially the aim of degrees and wellbeing contributes to  productivity. Overall I am very glad that I got the input from students early on so I didn’t have to chase up results and also with the cobativite techniques I learned.
